Weekend Madness with Dance, Synth and Rock! (11/20-11/22)
Tuesday, November 17th, 2009

Friday the 13th!
Start your weekend right by melting into the dance floor to the synthy madness of Reverse Dotty! Ladytronesque keyboards and beats to keep you moving! With the help of Portland’s newest mythologically named band, and quite the Of Montreal junior, Pegasus Dream! We guarantee slipping on the sweat of your own genius dance moves and the colours of the rainbow prancing off guitar strings like a unicorn high-fiving a candy cane. If you come to the show, this will all make sense. A good night to try our selection of natural goodies covered in a recent WWeek article!
Saturday the 14th.
A night of indie goodness to please fans of the quietest whisper of tunes to the lovers of music you can lazily dance to and nonchalantly bob your head. From the endearingly eerie folk of The Heartbeat, the poppy acoustic spirit of Cannery Row, the flawless shoegaze of The Glyptodons, and our friends from nearby Washington, The Shivas comes a Saturday to remember.
Sunday the 15th.
Face the Box bring their cello bending psych rock to The Parlour to start our Sunday along with the upbeat indie in the vein of an electric (Ani Difranco) of The Shannon Tower Band, and the soulful tunes of The Notes Underground. Local favourite Jantar Mantar’s blaring psychedelia ends our weekend by either melting our face our destroying our PA – either way leaving us satisfied.
What’s that, you want to go to all three shows but only have a fistful of dollars? You want to get in free? Well you can! Join our street team by emailing booking@parlourpdx.com and get free admission to all the shows you want! For serious.

Join The Parlour for a night of folk music, acoustic, and laid-back tunes to melt you.

Sunday, we will wind it down with some indie rock and tunes to keep the child inside alive.
Featuring: Poppin’ strings and orchestral tunes with The Hot Strings. Mixing bluegrass with folk, indie with southern gothic – well, it’s pretty hard to describe. So be there to help us label them. Opening will be Nilika Remi, whose brilliant voice andĀ soulful strings will be sure to please.

On Sunday, October 25, The Parlour will be featuring a gallery showing of pop-artist Ian McEwan’s work. Starting at 4pm you can peruse the artwork, grab some coffee, or munch on some fantastic vegan treats. Admission is free. A musical performance by ambient/dronescape artist Sad Music for Happy Humans will round out the showing.
Later that night, we will be featuring performances from Please Do Not Fight and The Timbreines. The four members of Please Do Not Fight may have their influences rooted in folksy indie rock but that doesn’t stop their Death Cab For Cutie meets Matt and Kim sound from conveying the intended message: MOVE! The Timbreines seamlessly mix pop and folk, swaying between indie and rock with soulful vocals.
Please come help support us this opening weekend!
